Spiritual Definition of Brain
In1859 through his published book ‘On the origin of Species ‘Charles Darwin postulated theory of evolution by process of natural selection. Though the theory is time tested, many of the scientific advances in the discipline of physics, geology, chemistry, molecular biology has supported refined expanded in recent time it has failed to explain the soul. The theory does not explain WHY the evolution occur in first place. Many evolutionary biologists do not refute the presence of God. They believe that evolution is an elaborate description of a process that govern the development of life on earth like many other theories like atomic theory and germ theory.
Spiritual definition of brain still a complex and evolving concept. It can be seen as
Brain is a sacred and supreme space where we connect our deepest self with larger universe incomprehensible by common mind .By prayer, meditation ritual practices we open our self to new level of awareness and understanding. Brain can be utilised for spiritual purpose through
Many other functionaries related to brain which are true in spiritualism ,found in many religious text all over the world ,can not be proved by science are
A=Nature of consciousness
B=The existance of SOUL or SPIRIT.
C=Possibility of life after death. Is there life after death ?What is it like? Where are they?
D=Existance of GOD or supernatural being .The particular nature of GOD .=What is GOD ?.What relationship does have with humanity. What are GOD’s intentions?
E= Meaning and purpose of life
F= Origin of religion .Where did religion come from? How did it start ?Why did people have religious impulses? Of course there is proof of religious leaders and messengers born on earth to propagate different religious context and spiritual experiences with almost same philosophy and aim to keep human race going at peace
G=Miracles=Are miracles are real or virtual ? If so why do they happen ?
H=Intuition= It is often described as “gut feeling” or a “ sixth sense .”What the nature and how they occur. Mystics often describe having intuitive experience that provide them with insights in to the nature of realty.
I=The problem of evil-Why evil exists in the world if there is a loving GOD . Why our mind is subjected to evil?
There are a lot of other religious/spiritual phenomena which are beyond comprehension of normal mind/brain
Recently correlation between science and spiritualism is being thought of. People with spiritual practices shows cortical thickening of prefrontal cortex of brain. Right parietal lobe is responsible for defining me, the Ego. It is quieted during spiritual experiences. A specific brain circuit linked to spirituality is being proposed to be located in periaqueductal grey matter of brain. This area reacts in a similar way to diverse spiritual experiences regardless of traditional approach, race creed, gender. Inspite of all recent development nothing is conclusive. Spirituality is broad, has vast experiences in life. It is a way to define the meaning of life.
As German neuroscientist Olaf sporn has put it ‘Neuroscience still largely lacks organising principles or theoretical frame work for converting brain data into fundamental knowledge and understanding’ In spite of vast no of data accumulation in neuroscience research, and additions of philosophical new thoughts, our understanding of brain appears to be approaching a more confusing and diversed state.
